Digital and technological advancements have changed the way we "backpack". Hostels and trains have been replaced with ride and house sharing companies, and short term rentals, all literally at our fingertips via apps and social media reviews. Regardless of the ease technology offers today’s travelers, the unforeseen challenges that accompany long travel remain the same. Many things go wrong; many things exceed expectations.
