This is the trailer for "Real World Science in Your Backyard," an online video from Greener New Jersey Productions for the Sandy Hook Foundation as part of a two-year Geosciences Education Project, a bold initiative funded by the National Science Foundation to bring middle school students, teachers, and scientists together in the natural world to promote learning in science, technology, engineering and math. The video was shot in the spring of 2012 at Red Bank Middle School, and Sandy Hook, part of the National Park Service, Gateway National Recreation Area, in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The video features students and teachers working with a variety of researchers who have studied the coastal landscape there for years. "Real World Science in Your Backyard" documents how teachers become more confident and students become more engaged when they both come into direct contact with their natural environment and have hands-on experiences just like real scientists.
